Don't switch to the editor displayed in the "preview." This is not Facebook. That is not an effective way to properly edit and post insightful articles, that is a format that screams, "we want you to post solely about your relationship status at any given moment and what particular room you're jacking it in at the moment....
Or in other terms, fuck you, fuck your new format, and fuck your updates.
That is all.

That picture is so cute and awesome!
Yeah, I hate when "designers" keep changing shit for no reason. Just leave the websites ALONE! YouTube/Google is the most egregious offender here, but Gawker shouldn't be trying to catch up at all. Craigslist is awesome; the layout is virtually unchanged since 1995—don't fix something that isn't broken!
Maybe it's time for Jalopnik to pull a Wonkette and separate from Gawker. Their site works well. Commenting by Disqus.

Rule #1. Do not go to Gawker or Jezebel.

Youtube/Google is actually fairly static in terms of design. The few changes they have made have been generally well received.
Craigslist and reddit, however, are two sites that I can't stand BECAUSE their design hasn't evolved since 1995. They are terrible to use or navigate.

If Gawker or Jez gets a new format, Oppo and other major and minor Gawker blogs will be affected. This is what the… * counts fingers * ...sixth time Kinja updated itself this year alone.

Gawker still owns the Jalopnik and company though, so if they switch, we switch. In theory.

I know, and we owe our existence to Gawker. It's just that their other off spring are not, shall I say, always "balanced".

Really? Mandatory G+, they're trying to get you to use your real name, one channel, no more friends, 2000-subscriber limit, taking down videos for no reason
Google KILLED YT!

They more just rolled YT accounts into G+. Then again, I already had a G+ account, so I can't speak to the complications. The nagging about real names was irritating, but there are workarounds.
You're also talking about functional changes, and I guess I thought you were referring specifically to design changes.

Hey, Zorro. Why you grayed out on my screen?

Uh... what? It's exactly the same as the current editor, just with some extra features (strikethrough, for example, gets a button.)
I don't see how it's facebook-like.

Someone or Kinja was playing with my Oppo badge and forgot to return it. I asked GameCat and Nobody (not literally), but my badge quietly, mysteriously returned with no note of explanation. We're good now, thanks to whoever returned it. Oi, I replied to you about our trip just in case you didn't get the notification. Love you.

In-line editor with a bunch of "save as public"/"save as private" bullshit? No, just no.

It's the same editor, with a few more features.
